Color by Number Lightning Headband by Lee Meredith
buttoning headband in any weight yarn, to get any width in a lightning bolt color pattern
- made with striping and picked up stitches
- no stranded knitting or intarsia
- one strip at a time, all connected modularly
- yarn-carrying techniques help handle multiple colors
- weave in ends as you knit, for minimal finishing
- two contrasting colors make the bolts, with an optional third for the button band
- pattern is written for any weight yarn
- use a finer weight for a more narrow headband, or use notes to make it finer and wide
- color-by-number drawing included to color in your striping ideas

you'll need:
- approx 94 yards / 86 meters total bulky weight yarn (Malabrigo Chunky in sample), in 2 colors, or any weight yarn for any-gauge variation
- size US 11 (8mm) needles, or needles sized to match your yarn for any gauge
- 6 buttons, approx .75 inches / 2 cm across (or differently sized for different gauges)
