Insta-hat by Lee Meredith

quick-knit simple lace patterned hat in bulky weight yarn

• 3 circumference sizes and varying heights
• looks great in different styles, fitted or slouchy
• adventurous beginner level, or a quick & easy project for more advanced knitters
• uses a skein of bulky yarn, solid or multi-colored
• pattern was first released as a mystery knit-a-long on Instagram as a holiday gift in 2014
• it was then completely re-done as a pdf pattern (re-written, extra stuff added, tech edited, etc)

you'll need:
• a skein of bulky yarn (possibly more than 1 skein, for an extra big, slouchy hat; yardage ranges around 60-100 yards / 55-90 meters)
• size US 10 1/2 (6.5mm) needles (gauge of approx 11 sts per 4 inches in 2x2 ribbing) - a 16" circular for the hat body plus a few double points for the crown top (or a long circular for magic loop)

As a holiday season treat in 2014, a condensed version of this patten was posted for free on social media as a mini-mystery-knit-a-long, a holiday gift to my social media followers. The pattern continues to live on those instagram posts as a free pattern that anyone can still read and use :)

The paid PDF version for sale here includes more detailed sizing and sample information, extra notes/instructions for embellishment options, the pattern is written in an easier-to-follow standard pattern format, it was professionally tech edited, and new photos were taken for it.
